All Aboard!

Like any typical four year old boy, Eli loves trains.  And Thomas, of course.

The theme song from "Misty Island Rescue" will always remind me of our first days as a family in Ethiopia.  ("Misty Island rescue, here we go!  Here we go!)  As Brad and I struggled through stomach issues, waiting for our Cipro to kick in, Eli watched Misty Island Rescue over and over on Brad's iPad.  As a result, I think the words of that song may be some of the first English Eli learned.

So when we saw there was a Day Out with Thomas event at the Colorado Railroad Museum, we were excited to take him.  Even better, Eli's grandparents were visiting so could join us.

And when we get to the front of the line, Eli refuses to have his picture taken with Thomas

All the following week, Eli kept asking to see Grandma and Grandpa.  And to see Thomas. But Grandma and Grandpa were back home in South Dakota and Thomas had moved on to his next event location, two concepts that were hard for Eli to understand.

We couldn't give Eli exactly what he was asking for, but the following weekend we took him up for another train ride on the Georgetown Loop Railroad.  It was a gorgeous Colorado fall day.

Classic move by our camera shy child

And he says "let's go train."

  1. My daughter was the same way with Sesame Place - couldn't wait to go, took lots of pictures, ate - but was scared of all the rides except the carousel lol. The scenery along the elevated railroad looks spectacular (but scary!).
